The Lonely Father

I see you walking upon the street alone;
Sadness reflecting in your eyes,
you are returning to an empty home.

Holding inside, the pain you are hiding from us all;
Yet I can read you like a book, as you,
seemingly maintain your pride; remain standing tall.

The answer as to 'why', this path you are now on;
Now brings you to such pain,
all hope appears to have gone.

I can not answer you this, but, I hope I can offer to you;
The knowledge that I will always be here,
to help you make it through.

It is the least I can do, for the life that you have given to me;
And above all else in life, Dad;

I want to see you happy.
