And I Am Thankful by PoeticMindset

past the Granary Burial Ground
on a Wednesday afternoon
in November

a day like any other really
but with more hands
extended with
some voices being more forceful
others polite

the mist was hanging
unsure of itself

I think

as two of modernity's structures
in the distance
were partially hidden
the relatively new
juxtaposed to this

the third oldest burial ground in the city

people held onto suitcases and backpacks
making their way to train stations
on the day before Thanksgiving
passed moments in hurried motions

(me on a typical day)
