Galileo Was Right by Andrew Painter

Belts tighten as institutions buckle.

Those with nothing to lose pray.

Poker-faced industrial giants whisper ,”The monkey has been poisoned”, into the organ grinder’s ear as he churns out quick riffs on political repercussions.

Those with nothing to lose sway.

Disappointing sons of ghost , hurl paper airplanes at clouds – a second generation without innovation offersnothing to please the crowds.

Those with nothing to lose run astray.

Spotlights focus on chimneys to better see their smoke that rises and chokes even the angels in heaven.

Those with nothing to lose, fade away.

Rulers snap the skin of every knuckle, while out on the streets, feathers and harps hit the ground at the same time.
